What our comment system is, and how signing in works.
Every article on The Dingo Daily has a comment section at the bottom, powered by Comentario, a comment platform we run ourselves rather than handing off to a third-party ad network. Anyone can read comments without an account. Posting one takes just a moment either way, whether you sign in or not.
You can create a local account with just an email and password, or sign in using an existing account you already have with one of these providers: Discord, Facebook, GitHub, Google, X (Twitter), or YouTube. We don't ask for anything beyond your basic public profile (name, email, and profile picture) from whichever provider you choose — enough to identify you as a commenter and show your name next to what you post. We never post, message, or take any action on your behalf on any of these platforms.
Signing in with YouTube specifically shows your YouTube channel's name and avatar next to your comments, instead of your underlying Google account name — the same separation YouTube itself offers between your Google identity and your channel identity, for anyone who'd rather keep those separate.
Don't want to create an account at all? You can also comment without registering, with an optional display name of your choosing (or "Anonymous" if you leave it blank). Comments left this way go through moderation review before they appear publicly, rather than showing up immediately like a signed-in comment does.
Comments are reviewed by our editorial team, and we reserve the right to remove anything that's spam, abusive, or off-topic. We're not trying to run an open free-for-all — we want the comment section to be worth reading.
