The Dropbox That Broke Everything

Miller's lawyer, Aaron Minc, has accepted sole responsibility for the folder's contents, saying in a statement that the release was 'completely unintentional' and that he was 'the only person responsible for assembling, creating, reviewing, adding, deleting, redacting, or making any changes to the information and files that were in this folder.' Miller, for his part, was the one who blasted the link out to his followers.
What the Lawsuit Actually Says
The complaint doesn't let Miller hide behind his lawyer's mea culpa. According to The Guardian, the suit argues that Miller 'so desperately wanted to salvage his political job' that he 'recklessly and intentionally' handed Minc 'a trove of documents and photos, indifferent about what they contained or how they were used.' That's a specific and brutal framing: the congressman didn't just make a mistake, he was so focused on his own survival that he couldn't be bothered to check what he was putting into the world.
The lawsuit demands $150,000 in damages for every single instance of someone accessing, transferring, distributing, publishing, or downloading the image. Do that math against 400,000 interactions and you arrive at a number that would make even a well-funded congressman's eyes water.
The filing also makes a point that should not need to be made in a legal document in 2026: 'Any parent knows, in this era and world filled with pedophiles, creeps, and AI-generated image alteration and video generation, not to put nude pictures of their child, or any child, on the public internet.' The lawsuit is saying the quiet part loud. Miller's legal team apparently needed the reminder.
The Abuse Allegations Underneath All of This
The nude photo lawsuit is separate from the underlying domestic abuse case, and it's worth keeping that separation clear while also keeping both facts in your head simultaneously. A conservative district, a loyal vote, and apparently none of this clears the bar of disqualifying behavior as far as the current administration is concerned.
Democrats have taken notice. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee added Miller's opponent, Brian Poindexter, to its 'Red to Blue' program, which flags districts the party believes it can flip.
